History

Atos Origin is one of the top 10 IT service providers in the world and has a strong history in North America.

Atos Origin can trace its history in North America back to 1963 when University Computing Company (later renamed UCCEL) was founded in Dallas, Texas. In 1987, Computer Associates acquired the software development group of UCCEL and the Managed Operations group became Power Computing Company, which focused on providing mainframe data processing services. Philips Communication and Processing Services (C&P) then acquired Power Computing Company in 1994 to enhance its service delivery capability in North American markets. Two years later, Philips C&P became Origin and was established as a member of the Royal Dutch Philips Group of Companies with 16,000 employees in 30 countries worldwide. In August 2000 Origin merged with Atos, which led to the creation of Atos Origin.

In January 2004, Atos Origin acquired Sema Group from Schlumberger, thereby creating one of the leading international IT services companies. At the time of the acquisition, Sema Group employed 21,000 staff and generated annual revenues of approximately EUR 2.4 billion. Now, Atos Origin generates annual revenues of more than $8.3Billion and has 50,000 employees in 40 countries.
